Students will be asked to find a newsworthy article every two weeks and write a response that includes a summary of the information as well as impacts and/or connections.
Rubrics for Current Events, Writing, Reading Journals and Logbooks can be found here. Rubrics for Self Assessments, Projects, Units of Study, etc, will be added as needed.
This page and the next tell which students are responsible each week for a variety of classroom tasks including maintaining the Class Log, making sure computers are correctly put away, checking that the floor is litter-free, and keeping the sink area straightened up.
These are the questions we address each day. Make sure you have each day's question recorded in your logbook, then write out your response.
This page gives you links to resources such as reference sources, bibliography makers, rubrics, and forms or formats used frequently.
This page tells when all student Reading Journals and Logbooks will be checked throughout the year. Logbook checks do not involve a full reading of the log, but rather an overview check for completeness, neatness, and general quality. Reading Journals are checked to make sure the students are keeping up with their goals for the 25 book total for the end of the year.
This page will give you descriptions and due dates for major assignments as they arise during the year.
This tells you when all student self-assessments will be written throughout the year. Self-assessmentsd are generally written on Tuesdays to go home on Wednesdays, and are returned by Friday with parent signature and optional comments.
This page tells when each chapter of the Spelling Connections workbook must be completed in preparation for the weekly word study assessment. It also tells which students are responsible for posting the word study concept and creating a review activity each week. Note: we skip every sixth as they are review chapters.
These are thought-provoking, student selected quotations that we generally discuss twice each week. Make sure you record the quotations in your logbook each week and write a short response.
