The Elementary Schools

  • Each elementary school has Learning Support programs for students in grades K-5.
     

  • Classes serve students with learning, emotional, and behavioral needs as well as those with physical or other handicapping conditions.
     

  • Most exceptional students are assigned to regular homerooms and participate in the general education curriculum for a portion of their school day as determined by Individual Education Plans (IEP’s).
     

  • Some students are taught in regular classes with adapted materials, instruction, and grading; and with paraprofessional assistance available.
     

  • A range of services is provided for students identified as Mentally Gifted.

Radnor Middle School

  • Learning, Emotional, and Gifted Support programs are offered for students in grades six through eight.
     
  • Students are served in a combination of general and Special Education classes, as determined by their IEP’s.
     
  • One Learning Support program is geared toward practical skills and community experience.

Radnor High School

  • Special Education students may elect a combination of regular and Special Education classes based upon individual needs.
     
  • Along with Learning Support, there are three Emotional Support programs, one of which accepts a limited number of tuition students.
     
  • Gifted Support services are offered for students identified as Mentally Gifted.

Related Services

Counseling and psychological services support students with personal issues, and student assistance programs are active at middle and high school levels. Speech/language, occupational, physical, vision, and hearing therapies, as well as assistive devices, are provided to eligible students. Special needs students are transported to programs
inside and outside the district.

Alternative Placements

The Radnor Township School District serves students in the least restrictive environment, maintaining them in home schools whenever possible. Some students with low incidence handicaps are served by intermediate units or approved private schools.
