The
Radnor Township School District Technology Planning Process

Technology Plan
July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2007
Introduction
In accordance with the technology planning guidelines as outlined by
the Pennsylvania Department of Education, each school district and
intermediate unit must prepare and file a three-year technology plan
with the PA Department of Education Office of Technology.
The PA Department of Education has each school district on a
specific timeline for its technology plan submission. The Radnor Township School District Technology Plan
was due
into the PA Department of Education by June 1, 2004.
The
state asks that each school district and intermediate unit use a
planning process that is inclusive of all stakeholders within the
district, including but not limited to school board members,
administrators, teachers, parents, students and community members.
The Radnor Township School District Technology Planning
Committee was comprised of these stakeholder groups. The planning
committee met several times over a three-month period to study the
districts needs with regard to the planning areas outlined by the
state planning process. These planning areas include instruction, communication and
information access, administration and management,
and infrastructure. Further requirements are the development of a
technology vision statement, clear and concise goals, objectives
that tie to each individual goal and activities that tie to each
individual objective.
The
technology plan covers a three-year period from July 1, 2004 to June
30, 2007. The
state requires the approval of the district’s technology plan by
the local board of school directors prior to the PA Department of
Education plan approval. These approvals are important and required
for participation in funding programs such as E-Rate and federal
programs. Realizing that technology needs and requirements are
subject to change during the course of the plan timeline, approval
of the technology plan is conceptual, however, districts are
strongly encouraged to follow the stated plans as close as possible.
