| Operation Safe Stop is a proactive
approach to educating the motoring public that passing a stopped school
bus when children are loading or unloading is both dangerous and
illegal. Law enforcement agencies, school transportation providers,
state agencies, and pupil transportation associations have combined
their efforts to bring this message to the public and help reduce the
number of illegal passes.
On October 19, 2005, Radnor Township
observed the Ninth Annual
Operation Safe Stop. On this day, the Radnor Township
School District participated by having its drivers record illegal
passing that occurred. When possible, the drivers will relay information
regarding the vehicle to the Radnor Township Police
department so that a citation can be issued to the offending
driver.
The Radnor Township Police Department
also participated by focusing attention on known problem areas.
Police officers rode District buses as well as followed
selected bus routes to ensure compliance with the law. |
