On January 15, 2014, from 1 to 2:15 p.m., the Public Speaking classwill be undergoing mock interviews as part of their performance assessments for the course. The goal of this assessment is to give students an experience in interviewing with a seasoned professional mentor. Each mentor will complete a one page form of feedback and suggestions for each interviewee. The scenario will be that the student is interviewing for a faux position with a faux company. Questions will be general in nature.
Students will dress and groom professionally, prepare resumes, as well as, other pertinent documents, and then, the students would have 10-15 minute interviews with 3-4 visiting guests, who will ask them interview style questions. Students will be evaluated on the following: Preparation, Appearance, Poise, Clarity, Diction, Personal connection, Eye contact, Professionalism, and Intangibles. Intangibles will be an open-ended question for the mentor to opine about their “gut instinct” on the student.
One of the most important skills our students need for gainful employment is the ability to present him/herself in a face to face interview format. Are you aprofessional who is willing to lend a little bit of your time and a little bit more of your expertise to assist our RHS students. If so, please contact Brian Dietzler at Brian.firstname.lastname@example.org. The date and time you would need to be available is January 15th from 12:55-2:15 PM.
Let's start the year with a dialogue. English teacher Mr. Rosin would like to participate in our January 8 meeting. The conversation will take place immediately following the conclusion of PTSA business. Please join us at 9:30 am in the Black Box Theatre for what is sure to be an interesting and fun discussion.
