Senior College Planning Night
Thanks so much to the many students and parents who were able to attend our Senior College Planning Evening program last night. We hope you found it helpful and informative. I've attached the Power Point presentation that was shared last night below, and you can click here for a link to the presentation. If you have any questions about your college application process, please reach out to your counselor or visit us for one of our Senior Drop in Days, every Tuesday and Friday (starting next week) in the Library Conference Room.
Junior College Planning Night (2020)
If you weren't able to make it to our Junior College Planning Evening program before the break, or if you just want a chance to review a presentation that you thought was helpful, here are links to view the recording of each. As a reminder, please reach out to your counselor if you'd like to schedule a college planning meeting!
School Counseling Overview
Each incoming freshman class is divided alphabetically into five groups, with each group assigned to a counselor. Counselors work directly with that group of students from the beginning of their freshman year through graduation. Our goal is to provide each and every student with comprehensive guidance and counseling that reflects their individual needs, supporting students to achieve their academic and personal goals. Throughout the year, counselors meet with students individually, in small groups and in the classroom to assist with:
- Academic advising including course selection, scheduling, and academic support (see here for more information on academic support available in school)
- Social and emotional counseling including peer relationships, stress management, conflict resolution and crisis intervention
- Career exploration using tools on Naviance as well as community resources
- Post-secondary planning, beginning with the initial search through the application and acceptance process
For a more comprehensive explanation of our School Counseling curriculum, please see our curriculum overview. The School Counseling department also hosts evening programs for students and parents over the course of the school year. Click here for a complete description of the 2021 -22 evening events.
To discuss a question or concern, or to schedule an appointment, students and families can contact their counselor directly by phone or email.
