Parking Update for Fall 2020
In preparation for being able to move smoothly between learning Phases 1, 2 and 3 should the need arise, we are holding a lottery to determine who will receive a year-long parking tag in case we move to Phase 1. While in Phase 2, every senior with a valid driver's license will have the opportunity to obtain a parking tag and be permitted to park on campus on their assigned cohort day. If we move to Phase 1, we wish to ensure families are aware that some students would need to give up their right to park on campus. The sharing option will be unavailable during the 2020-21 school year as carpooling/ridesharing, except with immediate family members, is discouraged in the Radnor Township School District Health and Safety Plan approved at the July 28 School Board Meeting.
Please note that Open Campus information and updated forms were not included in the original packet mailed to senior families on July 27. The Open Campus Form is available here. We will follow the same parameters for parking eligibility as years past: students who do not yet have a driver’s license, have failed a class junior year, or have other issues that disqualify them, will be removed from the lottery or put on the waiting list.
Additional parking for underclassmen is available in the lot adjacent to Memorial Field on Matsonford Road. Click here to learn more.
2020-21 Parking Information for Seniors
Parking on campus at Radnor High School is a privilege. Parking permits are available for seniors only. Please be sure to follow all rules and regulations to protect this privilege. Read and review the Student Parking Agreement with your student to be sure they understand the expectations associated with having a vehicle on campus.
Parking Permit Lottery
There is limited parking available for students on campus. Seniors will be given the opportunity to obtain a parking permit through a selection and lottery process.
To obtain a permit, seniors must complete and return the RHS Parking: Student Information Card (sent in the mail the week of July 27) and Open Campus Form (available here) to the Radnor High School main office (130 King of Prussia, Rd., Radnor) from August 17-August 27 between 8:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m. to be eligible for a chance to obtain a parking permit.
The lottery will be conducted on Friday, August 28. Results will be posted on the Class of 2021 Schoology page after the lottery in complete.
Please note: During Phase 2 of the Reopening Radnor Plan, every senior with a valid driver's license who has submitted the required paperwork will obtain a parking tag and be permitted to park on campus on their assigned cohort day. If the district transitions to Phase 1, students not selected in the lottery will be required to turn in their tag.
Required Forms for Parking Permit Pick Up
Students must bring a copy of the student’s valid driver’s license, a copy of current auto insurance information, a copy of car registration AND the completed Student Parking Agreement to the RHS main office between August 31-September 4. A numbered hang tag will be issued. Final Parking paperwork may be submitted before the first day of school, September 8. Those who do not submit all the appropriate paperwork, or who have not resolved their outstanding debts by Friday, September 11 will be placed on the waiting list.
Please note: A parking fee will be required for students selected through the lottery process should the district transition to Phase 1 during the 2020-21 school year.
Where Seniors Can Park at RHS
Lots are assigned by tag number. Each permit will be issued per the lottery and allow the student to park in an assigned lot, or along the road by the upper lot in the numbered spots. Information will be posted on Schoology about what lots correspond to what tag range. The numbered hang tag must always be displayed on the rear-view mirror while the vehicle is on campus.
Students are not permitted to park in the staff spaces at any time. After one ticket for parking illegally, if the same car is parked illegally on campus a second time, that car could be towed. Starting Tuesday, September 8, all cars on campus must have a permit to park. Cars parked on campus illegally will be fined, towed, and parking privileges may be revoked. If a senior on the waiting list parks illegally, they will be removed from the waiting list.
If students need to temporarily take a different vehicle, the hang tag must be displayed in the temporary vehicle while on campus. If the original vehicle is no longer in use, the information for the new vehicle must be registered with the assistant principal's secretary. For official parking rules and further information, see Radnor Township School District Board Policy #223, Use of Bicycles and Motor Vehicles.
- Any senior who received an "F" as a final grade last year is ineligible for a parking permit.
- Seniors must have their outstanding debts resolved prior to receiving their parking pass. Any senior who does not have their debts resolved by September 8 will be placed on the waiting list. Please come to the main office if you have a question regarding a debt.
- Any senior who does not have their driver’s license prior to September 8, 2020 will be placed on the waiting list.
Please reference the Student Parking Agreement for additional information.
