Radnor Memorial Library Report October 2016
The Radnor Elementary Library opened this year with 593 students. Our full day kindergarten and six first grade classes filled the library with many new faces. The K-1 students learned book care strategies and completed shelf markers. 2nd & 3rd grades have polished their Destiny login and check out history skills. 4th & 5th grades have searched and read the many new just-right chapter books added to the library. Our 5th grade Reading Olympics team has already registered over 60 students.
Digital Citizenship and Online safety was introduced to all grades. Common Sense Media’s Nearpod lessons covered many important online safety areas including: The Power of Words, Rings of Responsibility, Keep it Private and Going Places Safely. Students used the IPads to participate in the Librarian instructed lessons.
The library Birthday Book program and Pumpkin Decorating program are well on their way at RES. Librarians have worked as a team to complete the making meaning alternative text section of the libraries. Additional copies of the 2016 Reading Olympics selections have been purchases and processed. We look forward to introducing the 2016-2017 PA Reader’s Choice selections and the RES Book Fair books to the students. Fall into a good book @ the RES Library!
