Term Life/Accident and Disability Insurance - Mutual of Omaha
Radnor Township School District provides employer-paid group term life/accident and long-term disability insurance to many employee classes. Newly eligible employees may also purchase voluntary term life and/or short-term disability insurance within 30 days of their initial eligiblity for group benefits. Premiums are paid through payroll deduction.
Voluntary Term Life Insurance
- Voluntary term life insurance premiums are age banded, meaning rates go up as you get older.
- New employees can elect voluntary term life insurance in increments of $10,000 up to the guarantee issue amount, which is the lesser of 5 times their base salary or $150,000.
- Employees who currently have voluntary term life insurance may increase their present coverage in $10,000 increments up to the guarantee issue amount during annual open enrollment.
- Larger amounts can be elected up to $500,000 but evidence of insurability is required and medical underwriting will determine whether Mutual of Omaha will insure the employee for the larger amount.
- All employees who are currently covered under the group plans but did not purchase voluntary coverage when first offered, may make application during annual open enrollment. Evidence of insurability is required and issuance is not guaranteed.
Voluntary Short-Term Disability Insurance
- The insured amount is 60% of your base salary, up to $600/week following a two-week elimination period.
- The maximum term is 11 weeks.
- All employees who are currently covered under the group plans but did not purchase voluntary coverage when first offered, may make application during the annual open enrollment period. Evidence of insurability is required and issuance is not guaranteed.
