First Comprehensive Plan Meeting
More than 70 parents, students, community members, School Board members and RTSD staff members came together on February 18, 2016 in the Radnor Middle School Large Group Instruction Room to kick off the Pennsylvania Department of Education's (PDE) required Comprehensive Planning Process and help map out the future of the district. The group was welcomed by students from the RMS Watershed Program, who presented each stakeholder with a house plant as a token of appreciation.
After an informal dinner and introduction to the process, the volunteers broke out into four themed groups to address the 13 comprehensive planning systems PDE cites as integral to successful school districts. These systems were categorized and assigned to each group in correspondence with the overarching strategic directions the district developed several years ago that were reinforced during the creation of the district's strategic plan: Student Achievement and Growth; Effective and Efficient Operation; Safe and Caring Environment; and Clear and Consistent Communication.
The Student Achievement and Growth group is led by supervisor of instruction Jim Kearney; the Safe and Caring group by director of student services Kevin Kane; the Communications group by director of communications Michael Petitti; and the Efficient and Effective Operations group by business administrator Michelle Diekow and director of human resources Todd Stitzel.
The group will reconvene on April 28 to prioritize needs and action planning, then again on June 16.
