Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Radnor Township School District students, parents and staff members are invited to join the five Radnor Township School District parent-teacher organizations for the fourth annual district-wide Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 20 at Radnor High School. 

The event will feature hands-on service projects, donation collections, and more. All proceeds will be donated to the Radnor A Better Chance program.

Please note: The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is open to RTSD students, parents/guardians & staff ONLY. Children in grades K-8 must be accompanied by a parent.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Volunteers are needed to help make the annual RTSD Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service a success! Opportunities include setting up, running the registration table, escorting visitors, collecting donations, leading a service project, cleaning up, delivering donation items & more.

Hands-On Service Projects

  • Food Pantry at Wayne Church

    Create Blizzard Bags filled with non-perishable food, kids decorate w/ cutouts of snowflakes, etc.

    Bryn Mawr Hospital Pediatric Unit

    Assemble activity kits for children in the hospital

    Rosemont Care & Rehabilitation Center & Wayne Senior Center

    Make care packages for the elderly

    Operation Gratitude

    Write letters of gratitude to first responders

    Life Center of Eastern Delaware County

    Decorate lunch bags and assemble lunches for the hungry in our community and collate hygiene kits for the homelesss

    Cradles to Crayons

    Decorate kid pack bags (for families to help celebrate the birthdays of children in need)

    Valley Youth House

    Create support kits for homeless and runaway youth, age 21 and under. Pack donated essential items into reusable tote bags.

    Reach Out And Read (ROAR) Philadelphia

    Create decorative/inspirational bookmarks & collate with donated books.

    Cityteam Chester

    Collate mother/baby kits for their free store.

Other Activities

  • Mindfulness Session: 10:45-11:15 a.m.

    Practicing Peace with Stacey Mandel
    An introductory mindfulness session to explore how “paying attention to the here and now with kindness and curiosity” can empower us to respond rather than react to life.

    Hoops for Helping

    Join us in the gymnasium after you’ve completed some hands-on service projects. It’s our way of saying thanks!

    Bake Sale

    Enjoy a sweet treat baked with care by the RMS Baking Club. There will be additional food and drink items for purchase.  Funds raised will be donated.
