How do I add content in a new text box to my webpage?
Apps are the content "building blocks" on a webpage. Additional apps can be added to a webpage to organize information by subject and create a more enjoyable user experience. The "Content" app is a text app that allows you to type information and style as needed.

How do I edit the "About Teacher" app on my "Welcome" webpage?
RTSD teacher "Welcome" webpages are designed using an "About Teacher" app and an "Upcoming Events" app that automatically populates with items from your school's online calendar. Other apps include a shared "Announcements" app for your grade level's "Monthly Update" (if applicable") and/or a "Content" app to add a class schedule.

How do I copy text from a source like Word and paste into a webpage to match the website's style?
When copying and pasting content from another source such as Microsoft Word or other word processing software, always "Paste as Text" to remove any invisible code or characters in the source document.

How do I select a district-approved image for my webpage?
Add some personality to your Welcome webpage. If you wish to use an image of your own, it must be a high-resolution image, sized to 250-pixel width, and approved by the Communications Office.

How do I update my contact information on my Welcome webpage?
All RTSD teachers are required to include their contact information on their welcome page.

How do I change how my apps display on a webpage?
Page layouts determine the look of your page. You can change the layout of your page to alter how your apps display on a page.

How do I change the name of a page on my website?
Use page names that explain exactly what type of information a visitor will find.

How do I show the app name on my webpage?
Help organize the information on your page by using app names as content headers that match the website’s design.

How do I share a collection of links to other websites of interest?
Build a collection of links to other websites of interest. We suggest organizing your links by topic or theme.

How do I delete a webpage?
Sometimes pages contain information that is no longer applicable. Consider deleting old pages or setting them to "Inactive" to ensure you are sharing timely and relevant information.

How do I set a webpage or app with time-sensitive information to expire?
Using the "Display Duration" option on a webpage or an app record helps manage time sensitive items on webpage(s).

How do I create an accessible table?
Tables are a way to arrange data in rows and columns to provide a visual representation of information.

How do I update my grade level's "Monthly Update"?
At the elementary level, each teacher should be provided a "Monthly Update" specific to his/her grade level to post on his/her Welcome webpage.

All individuals with access to add or edit content on www.RTSD.org can view helpful articles, interactive video tutorials, and additional resources from our website provider, Blackboard (formerly Schoolwires). These resources can be accessed through the "How do I...?" tab after a user logs in to our website's Site Manager.
Teachers can access a basic checklist for what needs to be included on their webpage(s) here.

Glossary of Terms

App: Apps are the content building blocks of any pages. A page may include one or more apps. Apps include, but are not limited to, a About Teacher App, a Announcements App, a Calendar App, a Photo Gallery App and a Link Library App. Apps are placed in Columns on a Page Layout.

Page: A Page is where you add the content for your section. You can use Page Types to create your pages. You can change the layout of your pages and add other apps to your pages as required.

Page Layout: Page Layouts contain one, two or three columns. You can also choose a layout with a left or right side bar and headers and footers.

Section: A section is a collection of pages within a channel.

Section Editor: A Section Editor has editing privileges for a section, which includes the ability to add, edit and delete pages in his or her section.

Section Workspace: The Section Workspace is the area in Site Manager where you complete your Section Editor tasks.

Site Manager: This is the interface you access to edit your website. What you see within Site Manager depends on your editing privileges.
