The School Board approved the continuation of voluntary athletics and activities at the August 25, 2020 Regular Business Meeting.

August 18, 2020
The School Board voted to begin the 2020-21 school year fully virtual for all students through Friday, Oct. 9, following an 8/14 recommendation from the Chester County Health Department for all Chester and Delaware County public and private schools, as well as in consideration of other Covid-19 data. August 11, 2020
The School Board hosted a special Board meeting on Aug. 11 to provide an update on our plans for reopening Radnor. Also approved at the August 11 meeting was a revision to our state-required 2020-21 School Health and Safety Plan. The plan will now require face masks to be worn by students throughout the school day, including when in classrooms.

August 6, 2020
The Board held a special meeting on Thursday, August 6 to approve the district's proposed Athletics Health and Safety Plan. Hours before the meeting, however, the governor's announcement caused an adjustment of the agenda and the Board's decision to take a two week pause on athletic activities beginning August 26. A special meeting was scheduled for August 11 to provide an update on reopening plans.

School Board approves modified in-person learning option for 2020-21 school year at Board Meeting on July 28. Fully remote/cyber learning option was also approved for families who may prefer to begin the year fully online.

Newly scheduled, a special School Board meeting was held July 21 to discuss options and administrative recommendations for reopening in the fall.

At the July 14 meeting, it was decided that this planned meeting of Reopening Radnor Task Force was no longer necessary as decisions, plans and protocols are now fit to be finalized by administration and staff based on the feedback received through the task force's prior meetings.

At the July 14 meeting of Reopening Radnor Task Force, the task force again reviewed the RTSD Guiding Principles of Screening, Hygiene, Masking and Distancing; reviewed the feedback received from the task force to date; discussed the goal of providing for safe and flexible pathways to learning based on guidance, feedback, and collaboration; and broke into balanced groups to further discuss and refine the direction and planning process.

The second RRTF meeting included a recap of the July 7 meeting; a review of how the parent and community survey results relate to the district's "Guiding Principles for Reopening Radnor;" how Summer School and ESY are helping pilot options for in-person instruction; and a break-out session where groups discussed reopening logistics with the RTSD Guiding Principles in mind.

More than 50 volunteer parents, community members, and staff participated in the introductory meeting of the Reopening Radnor Task Force via Zoom. A presentation was given that reviewed the five scenarios for reopening; the task force timelines; results of the parent and staff surveys; current guidelines for athletics, Extended School Year (ESY) and summer school; and more.

At the monthly business meeting of the School Board, a presentation on reopening planning was offered and the Board approved summer health and safety plans for summer voluntary athletic workouts and RHS Summer School and ESY.
Reopening Task Forces

2020-21 Reopening Radnor Task Force
The purpose of the Reopening Radnor Task Force is to provide feedback and guidance to district administration, which will ultimately make a reopening recommendation based on the work of the task force to the School Board at the Board's July 28 business meeting. The task force includes volunteer parents/community members and staff members from all grade levels (click here to view all members). In total, 270 parents and 37 staff members expressed interest in serving on the task force. Ultimately, 30 parents and staff members were selected based on various factors, including expertise in relevant fields, to ensure diverse representation.
Teaching & Learning Task Force
Comprised of 25 K-12 teachers and administrators with a focus on evaluating RTSD online learning during the pandemic closure and identifying what school could look like should RTSD need to provide online instruction for some, intermittently, or all of the time.
Scenarios & Structure Task Force
Comprised of RTSD administration with a focus on developing potential scenarios and structures for the 2020-21 school year.
