Student Meals During 2020-21 School Year

  • The Radnor Township School District (RTSD) Food Service Department is happy to announce that they will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch to all Radnor residents under the age of 18, regardless of whether or not they attend RTSD schools, through the end of the 2020-21 school year.

    Beginning Monday, October 19, RTSD Food Service increased the number of meals provided to one breakfast and one lunch per day, 7 days a week. Meal pickup procedures are dependent on each child's enrollment status for the 2020-21 school year.

    If you are interested in this service, please email Beth Cooke at beth.cooke@rtsd.org to sign up for the program. You will receive a confirmation email that will include the date of your first scheduled pick-up.

  • If my students do not qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch, am I still eligible for meal pick up?

    Yes. The USDA waiver extension includes everyone, regardless of lunch status.

  • I have children at home who are not in school yet. Are they eligible for the free meal pick up?

    Yes. Anyone under the age of 18 who lives in the Radnor community is eligible.

  • Do I need to pay for the meals?

    No. The meals that are distributed are provided at no cost.

  • Do I need to complete an application for free or reduced meals?

    No, you do not need to apply for free or reduced meals to participate in this program. However, we do encourage those in need to apply and take advantage of other opportunities, including fee waivers and discounted home internet. A Free and Reduced Meals application will be required to continue receiving free meals when this program terminates.

    No, the only information needed is your child’s name, age and whether they reside in Radnor.

  • Where and when do I pick up the meals?

    The meal pickup procedure is dependent on each child’s enrollment status for the 2020-21 school year.

    RTSD Fully Virtual (Phase 3) Students
    Students enrolled in Radnor Township School District’s fully virtual program will receive the full 7 days of meals during pick-up in the Radnor Middle School bus loop from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday (3 breakfasts and 3 lunches) and Wednesday (4 breakfasts and 4 lunches). Alternate pick-up times scheduled with the food service department will remain the same. 

    RTSD Hybrid (Phase 2) Students

    Elementary (Grades K-5) 

    • AM/PM Students
      Students enrolled in Radnor Township School District’s elementary hybrid program (AM/PM) will receive the full 7 days of meals during pick-up in the Radnor Middle School bus loop from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday (3 breakfasts and 3 lunches) and Wednesday (4 breakfasts and 4 lunches). Alternate pick-up times scheduled with the food service department will remain the same.

     Secondary (Grades 6-12)

    • A/B Cohort Students
      Students enrolled in Radnor Township School District’s secondary hybrid program (A/B) will receive meals according to the A/B cohort schedule each week. On days when the student attends class in-person, they will receive breakfast and lunch at school. The remaining meals will be available for pick-up in the Radnor Middle School bus loop from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday. The number of meals distributed will be determined by the A/B cohort schedule each week (ie. families will receive either 4 or 5 days of meals depending on the schedule). Alternate pick-up times scheduled with the food service department will remain the same. 

    Full Day Students
    RTSD students attending school in-person daily for the entire day or participating in the Right At School program will receive 5 days of meals at school with the option to pick-up the remaining meals at Radnor Middle School during the regularly scheduled pick up time. 

    Other District Residents Under 18
    All other district residents under the age of 18 will receive the full 7 days of meals during pick-up in the Radnor Middle School bus loop from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday (3 breakfasts and 3 lunches) and Wednesday (4 breakfasts and 4 lunches).

  • What will be in the bags?

    Each meal will follow the nutritional standards set by the National School Lunch Program. The student bundles will have different bags that contain multi-day breakfast and lunch meals. You can expect a variety of cereals/grains, proteins, milk, fruit juice, fresh fruits and vegetables.  Most, if not all, items will be individually wrapped.

  • Does my child/student need to be with me at the time of pick up?

    No, parents/guardians can pick up the meals without the child or student present. However, if your child is not with you may be asked to complete a form indicating who the food is being picked up for.
