Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) in Radnor

  • MTSS Process in RadnorTo be expanded and implemented in all five Radnor Township School District schools beginning the 2021-22 school year, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a comprehensive student supports strategy that utilizes equitable, responsive, and evidence-based practices and a collective ownership of student growth and achievement to systematically identify student needs in order to support all learners in reaching their highest potential. The system provides a broad set of evidence-based practices to meet the unique social-emotional, behavioral and academic needs of students.

Prior to the district-wide implementation of MTSS, WES began utilizing the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework in 2015 and the district conducted an investigation into equity and core instruction in 2015-16. RMS began the investigation into MTSS via the Delaware County Intermediate Unit from 2016-18, followed by the district from 2018-19. Ithan, Radnor and Wayne elementary schools also began utilizing Responsive Classroom Practices in 2018.

What MTSS Means for Radnor

    • A consistent system to provide preventative and responsive instructional (academic and behavioral) supports for all students
    • School-based teams to work collaboratively to analyze academic and behavioral student achievement progress, create appropriate groups for instructional interventions, and support ongoing differentiated and personalized learning for all students
    • Administration and coaches to provide ongoing and differentiated professional development for teachers and support staff to build Tier 1 and Tier 2 (in class) interventions to support student needs

Recent Event
