Multicultural Committee

  • Multicultural Committee

Hello, Aloha, Bonjour, Guten Tag, Hola, Konichi Wa, Layho, Namaste, Ni Hao, Olá, Salaam, Shalom!

The Multicultural Committee provides opportunities to increase awareness of the value of diversity via a variety of events throughout the year, including International Week which typically falls during the last week in January.  International Week celebrates a chosen country during the week and culminates in a school-wide potluck dinner. Potluck Dinner will be on January 31, 2020.

Our committee provides opportunities to increase the awareness and the value of diversity. We work with the school and PTO to create an environment where every student and their family feel comfortable and supported in sharing new ideas and perspectives. Join us as we embrace cultural diversity! We invite and encourage ALL families - new, returning, and ELL (English Language Learner) - to meet, to share, and to learn about all the varied cultures that make up our wonderful Wayne Elementary School community.

Throughout the school year, we have gatherings and events that are a wonderful way to meet and connect with other WES parents and become a part of the school community. Join us!

International Week - Jan 27-31, 2020

  • The Multicultural Committee is proud to celebrate its 12th International Week January 27- 31, 2020 as we ‘travel’ to India!

In school, kids will learn about India through food tastings at lunch, a school wide assembly featuring exciting bhangra performers, Indian magic up close and much more!

To make this week happen, we need your help! We will have a planning meeting and decorate the WES hallways on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, 9:30 AM. Please email Geeta Kapadia to volunteer and have your badge ready at school!
