Shaping the Future: Developing a Comprehensive Long-Term Facilities Plan

Project Progress

Administration presented an update on the Shaping the Future initiative on June 21, most notably sharing plans to recommend a new IES be built on the grounds of the current building.

A community meeting was held on May 24 to discuss possible construction and renovation options to address building needs, the most pressing being at IES and the Admin Building.

All community members are welcome to hear from administration and the district's architect on the possible options to address long-term RTSD facilities needs and provide feedback.

Possible construction/renovation options at IES, WES and Admin were the focus of the meeting due to results of the feasibility study, which categorized elements of each as "poor" or "critical."

The strengths and needs of district buildings, particularly WES, were discussed at the last community forum at this stage of the process on March 16.

The strengths and needs of district buildings, particularly IES, were discussed at the second Long-Term Facilities Planning Community Forum on March 7.

Superintendent Batchelor provided an update on progress toward the district's 2021-21 initiatives, including "District Initiative #5: Development of a Long-Term Facilities Plan."

A review and presentation on the district's 2019-2020 goals and initiatives was provided at the Dec. 15, 2020 Board Business Meeting, which included an update on the District-Wide Feasibility Study.

Background

On September 24, 2019, the district and Board adopted the district initiative:

“Develop a Long-Term Facilities Plan that supports enrollment, program needs, and building requirements.”

On February 25, 2020, the Board approved a contract with Breslin Ridyard Fadero Architects to:

Conduct a Feasibility Study as a foundational part of developing a Comprehensive Long-Term Facilities Plan.

The Feasibility Study was to investigate and report on program needs, facility and site needs, enrollment needs, and financial impact.
