Student Sleep & Healthy Schedules

Beginning the 2019-20 school year, Radnor Township School District embarked on an initiative years in the making when the schedules at each of the district's five schools were adjusted to support more sleep for students as recommended by numerous medical experts and organizations.

The study of sleep and school start times in RTSD formally began in June 2017, when the district, under the direction of Superintendent Dr. Ken Batchelor, named the exploration of student sleep needs and school start times as one of its 2017-18 "priority projects,” with a recommendation to be released by administration by the end of the 2017-18 school year. The recommendation was to follow an investigation on the topics of student sleep and school start times by a committee comprised of RTSD staff members, parents, students and community members.
