RHS - National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
There are four main purposes of the NHS: "To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.
Only juniors and seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or above and received a letter in the mail may submit a Candidate Information Packet for membership into Radnor High School's Chapter of National Honor Society. Once students have received their Invitation Letters, they should choose "Membership Application" on the menu at the left. The directions are on the first page of the Candidate Packet. Students must obtain two character recommendations, two service recommendations, and one leadership recommendation in addition, to an information sheet, and a personal statement on the given topic (see information sheet). Students should obtain the required recommendations and fill out their information in a timely fashion. (Individual pages of the packet can be found below.) Due to CoVid-19, all documents must be emailed to RADNORNHS2020@gmail.com by no later than October 14, 2020. No documents may be submitted in person or via USPS. Documents (including recommendations) submitted late or Candidate Packet that are incomplete packets will not be considered for membership into the Radnor chapter of National Honor Society. National Honor Society Pledge
I pledge to maintain my high scholastic standing,
To hold as fundamental and worthy
An untarnished character,
To endeavor intelligently and courageously
To be a leader,
And to give of myself freely in service to others.
In so doing, I shall prove myself worthy
Of a place in the National Honor Society.
