Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) & Title I
Through the collaboration of RTSD administration, teachers, and community members and through the support of the Pennsylvania Department of Education Division of Federal Programs, Wayne Elementary School transitioned to a Schoolwide Title I program beginning in the 2020-2021 school year.
The transition to a school-wide program provides WES with greater flexibility in leveraging our federal funding and resources to best meet the needs of our students. The Title 1 Schoolwide Plan at WES was written to support the implementation of Pennsylvania’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Pennsylvania’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is defined as a comprehensive system of supports that in the commonwealth includes standards-aligned, culturally responsive and high-quality core instruction, universal screening, data-based decision-making, tiered services and supports, family engagement, central/building level leadership, supports/services determination, and professional learning.
PA-MTSS represents a broad set of evidence-based practices that may be implemented across a system to include Academics AND Behavior within a recursive and systematic data driven problem-solving process. The Title 1 Schoolwide program at WES enables us to leverage our resources, both human and fiscal to address the needs of our students. Through the MTSS model, the Title 1 Schoolwide Plan at WES is intended to support the growth of ALL students.
