A Message from the Principal
Dear New and Returning Wayne Families:
Welcome back! It is my pleasure to partner with our new and returning families for the 2019-2020 school year. I hope that you have enjoyed your summer vacation and are looking forward to con-tinuing to learn and grow at Wayne Elementary There's much excitement ahead of us as you con-tinue to build on existing friendships, as well as, meet new friends to work, play, and make memo-ries. You will continue to explore and extend your interests, while discovering new ones. All staff at Wayne Elementary look forward to sharing in these moments with you and your family.
We have been working diligently to prepare for the upcoming school year and your return. Through-out this year we will continue to do our best to nurture and maintain a safe and caring learning envi-ronment that is inclusive and welcoming to students, staff, and families. We will continue to grow our partnership between school and home built on trust and collaboration as well as open, honest, and respectful communication.
It is our hope that even in our busiest schedules, we take time to appreciate each other and remem-ber that every great journey begins with a single step. We encourage you to fully embrace those “ordinary moments” as they pave the road for what lies ahead and make memories that will last a lifetime.
We strongly encourage all families to sign up for Schoology if you have not done so previously as this will be the primary source of communication for updates. To create an account Log on to: http://rtsd.schoology.com . If you need help with this process there will be a drop in date at Wayne on Thurs-day August 29, from 9:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. and then in the afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. where staff will be available to assist you with the process. Please let us know in advance if you will be attending by emailing Kate.McKenna@rtsd.org.
When you arrive on Tuesday, September 3rd we will all meet on the secondary playground. Your teacher for grades 1-5 will be holding up a sign to identify themselves, as well as have a copy of the class list to make sure everyone is accounted for. If you are a new Kindergarten student your first full day will be Thursday, September 5th and your classroom teacher will meet you in front of the building on that day.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Mrs. Nancy Ferguson Principal
