School Board Members

Meetings of the School Board

  • The board typically conducts its business meeting at the Radnor Township Building (301 Iven Ave., Radnor) on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. unless otherwise advertised. The board typically conducts committee meetings in the RTSD administration building (135 S. Wayne Ave., Wayne) on the second and third Tuesdays of every month unless otherwise advertised.

    Business meetings are broadcast live on the Radnor Township Government Access channel (Comcast 5, Verizon 30) and rebroadcast on the RTSD Education Channel (Comcast 8, Verizon 31). Committee meetings are streamed live online. The public is invited to attend all public meetings and work sessions.

    The RTSD Education Channel typically broadcasts the recorded committee meetings on Tuesdays (beginning at 1 p.m.) and Thursdays (beginning at 1 p.m.) following the committee meetings. The RTSD Education Channel typically broadcasts the recorded business meetings on Mondays at 10 a.m., Wednesdays at 2 p.m., and Fridays at 6 p.m.

About the School Board Members (2016-17)

  • David Falcone, Esq. is in his fourth year of service on the RTSD School Board and is currently Board President. He has been a resident of Radnor for more than 30 years. He graduated from St. Mary’s College in Maryland in 2001 with a degree in political science. He earned a Juris doctorate from Villanova University School of Law in 2004. Mr. Falcone is a partner at Saul Ewing LLP and practices out of the firm’s Chesterbrook office.

  • Susan Michaelson is in her eighth year of service on the RTSD School Board. She served as Board President in 2016, and is currently Board Vice President. She also serves in leadership roles on the Curriculum and Finance Committees. A Radnor homeowner since 1992, Ms. Michaelson is currently on faculty at Villanova School of Business. Previously, she had a lengthy business career in manufacturing, management consulting, and commercial banking, where her employers included Deloitte LLP and Chemical Bank, now JP Morgan Chase. She holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; an MDiv from Westminster Theological Seminary; and a BSFS from Georgetown University. Ms. Michaelson also serves on the Session at Ardmore Presbyterian Church, and can occasionally still be spotted on Radnor field sidelines photographing lacrosse.

  • Julia Bohnenberger is in her second year of service on the RTSD School Board and has been a resident of Radnor Township since 2006, with three daughters in the RTSD system. She has served on the Wayne Elementary School’s Parent-Teacher Organization Executive Board for two years and has helped WES in fundraising over $100,000 for school refurbishment and enrichment. She is a medical writer in the pharmaceutical industry, with extensive experience in communications, proposal development and global commercial strategy. Ms. Bohnenberger holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Johns Hopkins University.

  • Patricia Booker is in her tenth year of service on the RTSD School Board. She has served on a wide range of school-related boards and committees, most recently as co-founder of Radnor Partners4STEM, bringing the community and district together to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in our schools. Professionally, Ms. Booker is Director of Engineering and a program management professional (PMP), with more than 20 years of program and organizational-management experience. She serves on the Delaware County Intermediate Unit Board of Directors and functions as chair on the DCIU Facilities Committee. As a School Board member, she has served as chair of the Curriculum, Facilities and Policy committees, and currently serves as chair of the Finance Committee. Ms. Booker's focus has been on setting standards and goals that will steer decision-making that is deliberate, cost-effective and aligned with best practices.

  • Amy Goldman has been active as a parent volunteer for more than 10 years and is in her second year of service on the RTSD School Board. She is Co-Chair of the Government Relations and Communications Committee. In addition, she has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Radnor Educational Foundation, the Districts Educating and Learning Through the Arts Organization (DELTA), and Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El. She has also been a member of the RTSD Strategic and Comprehensive Planning Committees and The Haverford School Leadership Council. She served as President of the Radnor Middle School PTO, was the Founder and Chairperson of the PTO/PTSA’s District Wide Initiatives, and served as Chairperson of Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El’s Early Childhood Center. She currently serves on the boards of both the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children (DVAYEC) and The University of the Arts. Ms. Goldman was a long time Account Executive in television advertising sales at 6ABC and holds a B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Goldman and her husband have two children. One is a student at Radnor High School and one is a student at The Haverford School.

  • Charles E. Madden, III is in his 22nd year of service on the RTSD School Board. He grew up in Wayne and is one of eight children to attend Radnor schools. He graduated in 1971 from Radnor High School, where he was co-captain of the football team. Both of his sons, Chuck and Tim, attended Radnor schools. Mr. Madden is the CEO of The Ard Aniar Education Group, an educational consulting firm that advocates for students’ rights. He is a career educator, having worked at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit since 2001 as a secondary math teacher, a special education teacher, and as a secondary autistic support teacher before retiring in 2016. Mr. Madden also served as an Assistant Director of Special Events for Delaware County. He is currently a school district representative on the Parks and Recreation Board of Radnor Township and was recently elected to the post of Region 15 Director of the Pennsylvania School Board Association, which includes Delaware and Chester counties.

  • Michael Miller is in his second year of service on the the RTSD School Board. He is the President of Valley Forge Administrative Services, and Treasurer & Vice President of The Philadelphia Investment Banking Company. He attended Wayne Elementary School, Radnor Middle School and is a 1993 graduate of Radnor High School. He holds a B.A. from Union College. He and his wife, Amy, have two daughters at Radnor Middle School. Mr. Miller is president of the North Wayne Protective Association, after serving as its vice president and volunteering for several years. He has also coached for the Radnor Soccer Club house league for eight seasons and volunteered with the Wayne Elementary School PTO, co-chairing the Grill for the Spring Fair.

  • Lydia T. Solomon is in her eighth year of service on the RTSD School Board. She has served as the Chair of the Curriculum Committee, the Government Relations Committee, and the Policy Committee, and currently serves as the Chair of the Facilities Committee. In addition, she is the Board Representative to the Delaware County Community College Liaison Board. While on the Board, Ms. Solomon has also served as a Board Member of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit and representative to the Parent-Teacher Organization Coordinating Council. She works as a school psychologist for the DCIU and has taught as a college professor at Eastern University in the Education Department. She holds a B.S. degree from Cornell University and graduate degrees from the University of California and Immaculata University. Ms. Solomon has had the pleasure to serve as the PTO president for elementary, middle and high school levels in Radnor. In addition to Ms. Solomon's experience in the field of education, she has three children who have graduated from the Radnor school system.

  • Susan Stern is in her fourth year of service on the RTSD School Board. She brings experience from a variety of volunteer service opportunities she has undertaken throughout Radnor Township. She serves on the township’s Planning Commission and is an active member of the Skunk Hollow Community Garden. On the School Board, she has served on the Facilities Committee, and currently serves on the Finance Committee and is Chair of the Policy Committee. Ms. Stern is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and works part-time as a business manager for a local church. She lives in Wayne.
