WES End-of-Year Letter

The message below was originally sent via SchoolMessenger on June 13, 2022

Dear WES Families,

Thank you for your partnership, collaboration, and support for our students, school community, and one another!

Last year at this time we believed that this school year would return to normal. As the summer progressed it was clear that we would still be adapting at home and school. Even through these challenges we continued our partnership and consistently worked together to return to pre-pandemic traditions. While postponed to the spring we were able to host in person both PTO and school events. Our fifth grade students went back to Camp Canadensis, and volunteers were able to return to our Library and classrooms.

This year we also planned some new traditions. Last week we welcomed our newly registered kindergarten students and families to tour and meet with us prior to the end of this school year. For the first time on August 31, 2022, we will have a classroom meet and greet for all students and parents followed by our PTO Welcome Back picnic and then culminating in our Back-to-School night with all registered students attending. (Information has been sent previously and follow up information will come this summer.)  It is our hope that these events will serve to celebrate the beginning of the school year, bring together our Wayne community, and alleviate any uncertainty or worry prior to the first official day of school on September 7, 2022.

To those fifth graders and their families moving on to the middle school, we wish you the best and are so proud of your kindness, work ethic and responsibility. While this year was still not typical in many ways, we continued to grow, learn, and achieve to our highest potential. Know that your time at Wayne Elementary has helped to shape us, and that you will always be a part of our school and culture. We are hopeful that your middle school journey begins with anticipation and optimism. To those students and families returning to WES in the fall, we look forward to continuing this journey of growth with you.

As we move into the summer months, please take time to celebrate your child’s accomplishments as well as enjoy a break from the school routine. We commend all our students and families for their hard work, resilience, and grit this past year. We hope you enjoy the opportunities that summer brings to slow down, reflect, and relax. Please take time to enjoy the simple things and spend time with those close to you. Most of all “exhale” and come back in September ready to share and learn together.

On behalf of everyone at Wayne Elementary, we wish you a fun and safe summer. We look

Sincerely,

The WES Administrative Team
