Nest Returns to IES!

Students work on their eagle poster.

Students across grades come together to work and have fun during Ithan Elementary's Nest meetings. Students are assigned to a Nest group made up of students from kindergarten through fifth grade and led by an Ithan teacher. The group stays together during their years at IES and meets six times per year. Each Nest meeting includes a message, a collaborative activity, and a mindful moment.

Nest meetings achieve several goals including providing IES fifth graders with leadership opportunities, making connections with students and adults across the school to build a strong and caring school community, working together, and practicing mindfulness. IES School Counselor, Mrs. Jones, and the school's CARES committee, made up of teachers and staff, organize and plan the Nest program. This year each Nest group will work on a collaborative eagle poster provided by the PTO.

Teachers shared this Henry Ford quote at the first Nest meeting. "Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success."

Be sure to ask your children about their Nest experience.
