National Communications Award Earned for New RTSD.org
The National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) has awarded Radnor Township School District a 2022 Golden Achievement Award for the creation, design, and January 2022 launch of the new www.RTSD.org. RTSD joins five other districts and the Chester County Intermediate Unit as Pennsylvania winners, and 80 total winners nationwide.
The award recognizes exemplary work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing and engagement. Entries are individually judged by an expert panel based on strategic communication best practices and alignment with entry guidelines concerning project research, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
In February 2021, the RTSD School Board approved a full-scale district website redesign, a new app, and a 5-year contract with a new website provider, Finalsite. Launch was planned for January 2022.
The website redesign process included user and site research through surveys, data analysis, and feedback groups; migrating and creating content; developing and vetting design options; and informing and collaborating with stakeholders, among other tasks. The site continues to be evaluated and feedback encouraged to ensure improvements can be made where possible.
The 2022 NSPRA Golden Achievement Award is the fourth earned by the district since 2014, joining "Introducing Social Media to a School Community" (2014); "Honoring the Fallen Heroes of Radnor High School" (2016); and "How You Made a Difference to Me: Students Write and Read Letters of Gratitude" (2020).
The district also earned two Honorable Mentions in NSPRA's Publications and Electronic Media Awards in 2014 ("Elementary School Tour Video" and "A Radnor Education Matters") and three Awards of Merit from PenSPRA, the state-level school public relations association, in 2021 ("RTSD's Instagram Account"; "Radnor Feels Better When Dancing"; and "Radnor Unplugs and Connects").
The RTSD Communications Department is staffed by Michael Petitti, director of communications; Allison Gangl, communications assistant; and Nikki Krohn, video specialist.
