The Food Service Department strives to meet the nutritional needs of students in creative ways. As partners in a student's health and well-being, we are pleased to offer families online school menus and nutritional information. We look forward to serving our students daily, breakfast and lunch.
Free Breakfast for All Students
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announced that the state would be funding free breakfasts for all Pennsylvania students for the 2023-24 school year. RTSD will be participating in this program and encourages all students to start the school day off right by taking advantage of this complimentary meal.
According to Gov. Shapiro's announcement, the Universal Free Breakfast Program will run through the end of the 2023-24 school year and be available to more than 1.7 million Pennsylvania children enrolled in public schools, intermediate units, charter schools, career and technology schools, and child care institutions that participate in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
Also included in Governor Shapiro's proposed budget is lunch pricing will now be no-cost to free OR reduced eligible students; non-eligible students will require payment.
Free & Reduced Lunch
For the 2023-24 school year students will be charged full price for meals. Families are encouraged to apply for free or reduced meals (pricing is free for lunch). In addition to the free\reduced meal pricing approval entitles students to other opportunities, including fee waivers and discounted home internet.
