The Office of Student Services will occasionally offer webinars and trainings to provide additional support to families.
Parent Training: Substance Use Prevention and Education
Parents and caregivers joined Nadine Karel, Education Alliance Specialist from Caron Treatment Centers, for a discussion on substance use prevention and education on Thursday, March 13 from 7-8 p.m. at Radnor High School.
Topics included current substance use trends, impact on the developing brain & body, effective communication skills when talking with children about substances, the importance of establishing clear rules and consequences, and additional resources.
Ms. Karel is an Education Alliance Specialist with Caron Treatment Centers. For the past 16 years, she has been providing substance use education, prevention and intervention for students, families, and professionals within Radnor Township School District. As a member of the RMS and RHS Student Assistance Teams (SAP), Nadine runs psycho-educational support groups, provides behavioral health-assessments and individual interventions, as well as classroom education.
