Superintendent
Dr. Kenneth E. Batchelor joined Radnor Township School District in 2017 and has over 30 years of experience in public education, starting as a student teacher at Overbrook High School in Philadelphia.
During his tenure as Superintendent of the Radnor Township School District, Dr. Batchelor has led the district to repeated recognition as the top-ranked school district in Pennsylvania. Under his leadership, the district has focused on three core pillars: Wellness, Achievement, and Belonging.
Dr. Batchelor has championed student wellness initiatives, including the implementation of later secondary school start times to better support students’ health and well-being. To advance achievement for all learners, the district strengthened its Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), providing a comprehensive framework that addresses students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. Beginning in 2023, Dr. Batchelor also guided a districtwide effort to cultivate a culture of belonging and dignity, reinforcing an inclusive environment where all students and staff can thrive.
Dr. Batchelor began his career in education as a student teacher at Overbrook High School in Philadelphia before moving to North Carolina where he taught U.S. History, Economics and Legal and Political Systems. After returning to Pennsylvania, he taught Cultural Studies and Honors American Studies at Unionville High School while also coordinating and supervising the high school gifted program, coaching lacrosse, and serving as a club advisor to student activities. He was promoted to Assistant Principal in 2002. He moved on from Unionville to serve as the Principal of Penncrest High School in the Rose Tree Media School District before returning to Unionville-Chadds Ford in 2007 to serve as the Assistant to the Superintendent.
Prior to entering public education, Dr. Batchelor served as a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Hamilton Fish, Jr., attending hearings on healthcare, trade, defense, and education as well as researching legislation and briefing the congressman and senior staff on legislative issues.
Dr. Batchelor earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Widener University, his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Villanova University, and his Master’s in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
