If you would like to host our next parents coffee social event, see our guidelines and contact our parent socials coordinator, Leslie Selbach:

    • The grade level parent organizers (Grades K-5) can work with the parent social coordinator to explore options A or B.
    • The parent social coordinator is there to support grade level parents organizers in the delivery of their chosen option A or B.
    • Grade level parent socials are not PTO sponsored events.
    • The PTO sponsors the K-5 Coffee Social and the New Families Get-Together events only.

Option A: Parent Social at an offsite location

    • The parent organizer will work with a local offsite venue to set up and schedule a parent social and liaise with the parent social coordinator as required.
    • Ideally, the venue chosen should not require a deposit and should have the space available to accommodate all invited parents in that grade.
    • The parent organizer will work with the PTO’s VP of Communications to distribute an invitation to the respective parents.

Option B: Parent Social at an RES parent home

    • The parent organizer will coordinate with the parent social coordinator to schedule a parent social in their home.
    • The parent organizer is advised that RTSD recommends against the service of alcohol by the host. Rather, BYOB and guests serve themselves or a bartender should be hired if alcohol is made available by the host.
    • Parents hosting in their own homes could subject to social liability in the event of an incident.
    • The parent organizer will work with the PTO’s VP of Communications to distribute an invitation to the respective parents.
    • The School District suggests the purchase of single event insurance for parent socials hosted in a home.
