New Radnor Middle School Principal Appointed by School Board

Dr. David M. Wiedlich Named New Principal of Radnor Middle School
Dr. David M. Wiedlich, the Assistant Principal of Lionville Middle School in the Downingtown Area School District since 2014 who rose to the position after 11 years as a Social Studies teacher at the school, was named Principal of Radnor Middle School by the RTSD School Board at its monthly business meeting on May 28.
Among his responsibilities at Downingtown, Dr. Wiedlich developed school-wide master schedules, revised the middle-level course selection process, and oversaw student discipline. He also assisted in revamping the school-level Mutli-Tier System of Supports; created a co-teaching model in Mathematics and English; assisted in the development of academic improvement programs; and served as a member of the Student Assistance Program team. Dr. Wiedlich was proactive in developing and facilitating more than 15 professional development sessions for teachers, including "The Integration of Student Feedback in Classrooms," "Grading Practices and Assessment Strategies in Middle School," and "Classroom Management and Communication."
"David brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Radnor Middle School," Superintendent Kenneth E. Batchelor said. "We feel he is the ideal fit to meet the needs of our RMS students, parents, and staff members and we are excited for him to join our team."
Dr. Wiedlich also served on various committees in Downingtown, including the Cultural Equity Task Force, the Special Education Comprehensive Planning Committee, and the Board Curriculum Council. For two consecutive school years (2017-18 and 2018-19), he was a Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (PAESSP) Robert Lavely Assistant Principal of the Year Award nominee.
Dr. Wiedlich will join Assistant Principal Dr. Douglas Kent on the RMS administrative team beginning July 1, 2019. The distirct will look to fill the position open as a result of former RMS Assistant Principal Ryan Buterbaugh moving to Radnor High School this summer.
