Panayota "PT" Kevgas Named Radnor High School Principal
Mrs. Panayota "PT" Kevgas, Radnor High School's Assistant Principal of Academic Affairs since July 2015, was appointed as the new Principal of Radnor High School by the RTSD School Board at its monthly meeting on May 28. Mrs. Kevgas will replace current Principal Dan Bechtold, who will be taking over for Dr. Maureeen McQuiggan as the district's Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning. Dr. McQuiggan announced her retirement after this school year at the March 2019 Board meeting.
"Mrs. Kevgas knows Radnor High School inside and out and will make an excellent principal," Superintendent Kenenth E. Batchelor said. "She is qualified and eager to take the helm of the school, and we are excited to have a current and proven administrator ready to carry on the great work of Mr. Bechtold."
As an RHS assistant principal, Mrs. Kevgas took the lead in developing and implementing the school's equity, inclusion and diversity initiatives and secured the establishment of a free after-school tutoring program staffed by RHS teachers and open to all interested students. She joined RTSD in January 2002 and served as a Mathematics and Biology teacher at RHS. In addition to her teaching duties, Mrs. Kevgas developed syllabi for Advanced Placement (AP) Biology and Honors Biology courses, developed and instituted the AP Biology curriculum, facilitated and led technology trainings for fellow teachers, and was a member of the district's Strategic Planning Committee (2008-13) and its Schoology Advance Team (2013-14). She earned a B.A. from Villanova University in 2000, a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University in 2002 and a K-12 Principal Certification from Immaculata in 2014.
