Since 2014, the Radnor Middle School MATHCOUNTS team has earned no less than third place in the annual Delaware County Chapter Competition. The team added to its successful run by winning the county contest at Garnet Valley Middle School on February 8. The team also placed first in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018; second in 2019; and third in 2015.
The local triumphs have made the team an annual presence at the state competition each of the past six years, which will continue with a seventh consecutive trip this year on March 13 and 14 in Harrisburg. Last year, the team won first in the state team event for the first time in more than 20 years (1996) and a team member made the four-student Pennsylvania team that competed in the national competition in Orlando.
Team members also achieved honors in the 2020 county indiviudual competition, with Theo He placing third and Charles Yang placing 5th. Charles, Theo, and teammates Maya Kenadal, and Jackson Carey will represent RMS in the state competition.
