Now Available: Survey on Secondary Program and Instructional Commitment

Updated February 4, 2021; January 29, 2021

Survey Open to Secondary Families for Feedback on Hybrid and Instructional Commitment, Volume of Elementary Commitments Allow for Finalization of Planning

Dear RTSD Parents,

Following up on a message from yesterday (click here), below is additional information for our elementary and secondary families. Thank you.

Secondary Families: Survey Now Open to Gather Feedback on Potential Instructional Change and Hybrid

Administration is aware of the decrease in in-person attendance at Radnor High School and is considering various options to improve programming at the secondary level in general. This could include eliminating the A/B model and allowing all interested students to attend class in-person every day, space permitting. In this hypothetical scenario, students would still have the option to remain 100% virtual regardless of any changes to our existing structure.

Currently, the Chester County Health Department (CCHD) does not recommend bringing secondary students physically into classrooms with less than six feet of distancing. For planning purposes, the district seeks to get a firm understanding of how many secondary students would attend school in-person if adjustments were made to permit all interested students to physically attend school every day. We also seek feedback on our secondary hybrid program. Please click here to access a survey where you can provide this requested information by 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5.

Please note that the instructional placement you choose for your child on the survey indicates a commitment for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year if secondary instruction moves to every day in-person. Parents who choose the in-person school option would be expected to ensure their student(s) attends school in-person every day unless the student(s) do not pass the self-screening survey each morning.

Elementary Families: Thank You for Quick Response to Commitment Request, Survey Extended for Parents Through Feb. 3

We thank our elementary families for quickly responding to yesterday's request for a commitment to instructional options as we plan for a transition to Phase 1 at the elementary level. We are happy to report we have received more than 700 confirmations as of 12 p.m. today. Due to this response, we are able to extend the deadline for completion of the form to parents who may benefit from additional time (click here for the form; click here for an overview of Phase 1 at the elementary level). This deadline extension will not affect the development of our timeline to move to Phase 1 at the elementary level, since the volume of responses we have already received allows us to begin taking the next steps to finalize plans. For those who need the additional time, feel free to take until 6 p.m. on February 3 and be sure reach out to your building principal if you have additional questions.

Thank you and have a nice weekend.

Sincerely,

Dan Bechtold
