RHS Track and Field Team Finishes Season of Broken Records

Radnor High School Track and Field Team Finishes Record-Breaking Season

The Radnor High School Track and Field team experienced unprecedented success during its 2019 season, setting new school records in five events: Girls 800 Meter Run; Boys 4x800 Meter Relay; Girls Discus Throw; Girls Javelin Throw; and Girls Pole Vault.

Junior Keara Seasholtz set the RHS school record in the Girls 800 Meter Run, first in the spring of 2018 before besting herself twice during the 2019 season, clocking in with a final record-setting time of 2:10.06 in her second place finish at the PIAA Track & Field Championships at Shippensburg University. Keara earned her spot in States after placing second in the 800 Meter Run at the District One Class AAA Track & Field Championships.

Sophomore Chris Belz, junior Frank Brown, junior Luke O'Malley, and senior Ethan Zeh smashed the existing Boys 4X800 Meter Relay record by eight seconds when they finished second at the PIAA Track & Field Championships with a time of 7:43.48. The 4x800 Meter Relay team finished fourth at the District One Class AAA Track & Field Championships to earn their trip to States. 

Senior Zoe Metzger broke the RHS record in two field events: the Girls Discus Throw and the Girls Javelin Throw. Her 103-foot record-breaking throw in Discus came during the Last Chance Meet on May 11. Her record-breaking javelin throw of 120 feet, 3 inches came during her win at the Central League Championships on May 8. Zoe's performances this season earned her a spot to compete in both events at the District One Class AAA Track & Field Championships.

Senior Mab Rongione broke the RHS record in Pole Vault with a mark of 9 feet, 7 inches during the team's meet against Haverford and Marple on April 29. She also finished second at the Central League Championship Meet on May 8, qualifying for Districts with a 9 foot, 6 inch leap. Mab's performance this season earned her a spot to compete in Pole Vault at the District One Class AAA Track & Field Championships.

PIAA Track & Field Championships

  • Chris Belz, Frank Brown, Luke O'Malley, Ethan Zeh: Second in Boys 4X800 Meter Relay
  • Keara Seasholtz: Second in Girls 800 Meter 
  • Ethan Zeh: Fourth in Boys 800 Meter Run

District One Class AAA Track & Field Championships

  • Zoe Metzger: Eighth in Javelin
  • Luke O'Malley: Seventh in Boys 800 Meter Run
  • Ethan Zeh: Fourth in Boys 800 Meter Run

Central League Championship

  • Boys 4x400 Meter Relay team: Second-place finish
  • Frank Brown: Second in Boys 1600 Meter Run
  • Bridget Dougherty: Fourth in Girls 1600 Meter Run
  • Lucy Minning: Third in 100 Meter Dash and fourth in 200 Meter Dash
  • Luke O’Malley: First in the Boys 800 Meter Run
  • Keara Seasholtz: First in Girls 400 Meter Run
  • Ethan Zeh: First in Boys 1600 Meter Run
