RTSD Releases 2018-19 District Data and Student Achievement Report

2018-19 Report of District Data and Student Achievement Presents Community Range of Information About Schools

Published in Fall 2019, the third annual report on district data and student achievement in Radnor Township School District provides the community easy access to a range of information from the 2018-19 school year. The full report can be viewed by clicking here.

The 55-page report, which includes a comprehensive appendix of acronyms often used in public education, presents notable figures and analysis from last school year, including:

  • Pennsylvania Department of Education School Performance Profile scores for all RTSD schools increased in 2018-19 from 2017-18:
    • RHS: 87.4 from 85.9
    • RMS: 70.8 from 67.6
    • IES: 89.6 from 80.4
    • RES: 80.6 from 78
    • WES: 80.9 from 78.8
  • Except for kindergarten (0.26% decrease), attendance at all grade levels increased in 2018-19 from 2017-18; the highest increases were in 6th grade (98.73% from 95.3%), 7th grade (98.59% from 94.85%), 8th grade (98.22% from 94.82%), and 12th grade (93.2% from 91.93%)
  • Technical Career Center enrollment for high school students was the highest in recent history, increasing by 10 enrollees since 2014-15 (25 from 15)
  • Except for Honors Geometry (11 from 14), summer program participation increased in 2018 from 2017 for a total of 463 participants from 393
  • Members of the Class of 2019 who went on to college were enrolled at 113 different institutions of higher learning
  • The average SAT score for the Class of 2019 was 1325
  • 1,118 Advanced Placement (AP) tests were taken in 2018-19, the most ever (958 were taken in 2014-15)
  • 87.3% of RHS students who took an AP test in 2018-19 scored a 3 or above, compared to 83.6% in 2017-18
  • The percentage of Advanced scores in the English Language Arts PSSA increased from 2017-18 in four of the six grade levels tested; the other two grade levels saw percentages rise in Proficient scoring:
    • 3rd grade: 50% Proficient from 47%
    • 4th: 58% Advanced from 54% 
    • 5th: 49% Advanced from 40% 
    • 6th: 52% Advanced from 49%
    • 7th: 52% Proficient from 39%
    • 8th: 39% Advanced from 36%
  • The percentage of Advanced scores in the Math PSSA increased from 2017-18 in four of the six grade levels tested; the other two grade levels saw percentages rise in Proficient scoring:
    • 3rd grade: 46% Advanced from 44%
    • 4th: 43% Advanced from 40%
    • 5th: 39% Proficient from 29%
    • 6th: 48% Advanced from 44%
    • 7th: 36% Proficient from 31%
    • 8th: 32% Advanced from 31%
  • The average percentages of Advanced PSSA scores for all grades in all subjects were higher than all state averages, in some cases by more than 30% 
  • 30 native languages were spoken by students from 32 different countries enrolled in the RTSD English Language Development program 
  • 1,590 student-athletes participated in a Varisty, Junior Varsity, Freshman, or Middle School athletic program 
  • 934 high school and middle school students participated in band, chorus, orchestra, marching band, and/or jazz band
  • 976 elementary school students participated in band, chorus, and/or orchestra
  • 98,839 titles are in circulation at RTSD libraries; 92 online databases are available
