WE Charity Matches Radnor Middle School Hurricane Relief Funds to Bring Total to More Than $25K

Throughout the 2017-18 school year, Radnor Middle School raised more than $12,000 to support those severely impacted by hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. This effort was recently matched by WE Charity, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people to change the world through campaigns, educational resources and inspirational events, bringing the final fundraising total to $25,685.04.

Spearheaded by RMS assistant principal Dr. Douglas Kent, the RMS relief effort featured several fundraising activities including an online auction, school day bake sales and other student led fundraisers. The funds raised will be split evently between three schools: Attucks Middle School (6-8) in Houston, Texas; Horace O’Bryant School (Pre K-8) in Key West, Florida; and Carmen Benitez School (Pre K-6) in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico.

WE Charity supported RMS's effort as part of a $1.5 million pledge by its partner The Allstate Foundation to support hurricane relief and recovery programs. This matching opportunity was applicable to funds donated through the 2017-18 academic school year to US registered charities supporting those affected by the hurricanes.
