Radnor Elementary School Student Meredith Gelles Named Winner in 2019 Dr. Nicholas Spennato Young Authors' Project
Meredith Gelles, a 5th-grader at Radnor Elementary School, was recently named a winner in the 2019 Nicholas Spennato Young Author's Project. She will be recognized at a ceremony on May 9 at Northley Middle School in Aston, PA where she will receive a personalized certificate and a bound book with all of this year's the winning entries. Local children’s author Judith Schachner will be the featured speaker at this year's event.
The Keystone State Literacy Association’s Delaware County branch and the Delaware County Intermediate Unit co-sponsor the Young Author’s Project for students in grades 1-8. RTSD teachers review entries that are submitted from Radnor schools then choose those to submit to the county competition.
This year, a total of 42 RES students in grades 3-5 submitted written pieces for review and the respective works of two 4th-grade students (Andie Fisk and Shelby Graham) and three 5th-grade students (Meredith, Thor Bowers, and Anjali Padmawar) were selected to be submitted.
