Andrew Babson

Andrew Babson, Ph.D. began his third year of service on the RTSD School Board in December 2019. He is a scholar of educational foundations and teaches at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education and the Temple University College of Education. He is a 1993 graduate of St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus, Ohio, studied as a Fredin Scholar at the University of Paris in 1996-97, and graduated from Xavier University in 1998 with an Honors A.B. degree in Classics and Philosophy. He earned an M.Sc. in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics in 2002, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan School of Education in 2011. He has published his scholarly work and presented at dozens of international conferences, contributed to or led multiple projects at Michigan and Penn, and served as a consultant at the UNESCO-IIEP in Paris. Prior to his academic career, Andrew was director of research at the nation’s first online charter school, ECOT, and an associate at Fitch, Inc., a consumer research and design firm. Mr. Babson and his wife Emily are the parents of Radnor Elementary School kindergartner Grant, 6, and daughter Isabel, 2.
