Camp Canadensis 2022

About Camp

During three days at Camp Canadensis , all RTSD 5th-grade students who register for the trip will participate in fun and engaging lessons taught by RTSD elementary staff. Some of the lessons include pond study, wildlife study, forest study, fishing, Pennsylvania water life, canoeing, kayaking, a low ropes confidence course, hiking, orienteering, outdoor survival skills, and a sensory trail. In the evenings, activities and movies are provided. The students will be extremely busy all three days and will be supervised at all times. Approximately 25 staff members will accompany the children while at camp. Representation from the elementary administration will also be on site at all times.

Camp At A Glance

When: Wednesday, May 18-Friday, May 20

  • May 18: Students will be need to arrive at their school to depart by 7:45 a.m.
  • May 20: Students will leave camp and return to their school by 2:45 p.m.

Camp Canadensis Parent Information Session, April 27

An informational webinar for parents/guardians was held via Zoom on Wed., April 27. This session was led by Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning Dr. Shawn Dutkiewicz, elementary principals, RTSD teacher camp facilitators, and the camp nurse. Camp Canadensis director Mr. Matt Unger was also present to answer questions about the operations and facilities.
