ParentSquare in RTSD

What is ParentSquare?

ParentSquare (formerly Remind) is a district-approved communication tool that allows employees to communicate with secondary students and parents/guardians without sharing personal phone numbers. Employees initiate and manage all communication within ParentSquare. Messages may be received through the ParentSquare app, e-mail, or text notification. 

ParentSquare provides: 

  • Two-way communication between RTSD staff and secondary students and parents/guardians 

  • Automatic language translation 

  • Secure access through district accounts 

  • District-level oversight and monitoring 

  • Protection of family and employee personal contact information 

Why is RTSD using ParentSquare?

To improve communications with parents and secondary students during activities such as field trips, academic competitions, and athletic events, Radnor Township School District has adopted the use of ParentSquare. ParentSquare is a communications platform that permits communication by school district employees with parents and secondary students via text, mobile device, or computer while maintaining the privacy of information, such as parent, student, and staff phone numbers.     

ParentSquare is intended to replace personal texting and unapproved messaging applications, not to create an additional communication obligation for parents or staff. The app will not be used as a replacement for email, Schoology, or phone calls to communicate with your child’s teacher about academic issues. Please continue to use email for classroom communications.  

Uses of ParentSquare in RTSD

Employees may use ParentSquare for: 

  • Athletic teams, clubs, and extracurricular activities  

  • Last minute schedule changes, cancellations, reminders, and time-sensitive updates 

  • Field trips and other off-campus activities  

  • Communication among teachers, secondary students, parents/guardians, and approved chaperones during a trip 

  • Communication with families whose primary language is not English 

  • Other situations in which e-mail or Schoology may not provide timely or practical communication 

To access ParentSquare

  • You can download the ParentSquare app.    

  • By default, you will automatically receive emails to the email address that you use for district communication.   

To use this tool as a parent, create an account using the email address that is on file with the school district. If you would like to use the direct messaging feature, you are welcome to add your phone number to your ParentSquare profile.
