Volunteer Information

 A volunteer in this category will or is reasonably likely to have direct contact with a student while performing his/her volunteer service without direct supervision by a school district employee. 

Direct contact time may include, but is not limited to, coaching and/or assisting with an athletic team or musical performing group, advising an extracurricular activity, chaperoning an overnight field trip or competition, and/or providing supplemental assistance to a student without direct supervision by a school district employee.

Under amendments to the state Child Protective Services Law, all teachers, staff, administrators, contractors and volunteers who come into contact with students must obtain specific clearances. Prior to participating in any volunteer opportunity, each Tier I volunteer shall be required to complete and submit the following clearances: 

• Act 34: PA State Background Check (Free for volunteers)
• Act 151: Child Abuse Clearances Report (Free for volunteers)
• Act 114: FBI Criminal Clearance Report (There is a fee for this report); required for all volunteers participating in overnight field trips or competitions per district policy or for volunteers who have not been residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the entirety of the previous ten years)
• Act 126: Mandated Reporting (required for all volunteers participating in overnight field trips or competitions per district policy.)

A volunteer in this category will not likely have direct contact with a student while performing his/her volunteer services. For this reason, it is not required of the volunteer to have clearances. An individual volunteering in this capacity will still be required to provide a state driver's license/ID for main office staff to run through the district’s Raptor security system.

Please complete the form and submit it in person, along with your clearance documents, to the Human Resources Office at 135 South Wayne Avenue, Wayne, PA. All clearances must be submitted in person so the district can verify your identity with a valid photo ID.

The Volunteer Affidavit form can be used if you have been a resident of Pennsylvania for the entire previous 10 year period and have not committed designated crimes in Pennsylvania or elsewhere. The Volunteer Affidavit will not be accepted for overnight trips.
